Black Powder Cartridge Rifle

Scoped Black Powder Cartridge Rifle

Location:   Blacks Creek Public Rifle Range, Boise Idaho (I-84, Exit 64)

 

Time:    Range will be open at 8:30 am for Registration and Practice.  Start times will vary according to season but plan for 9:00 – 10:00 am

Entry Fee:          Entry fee is $15.00 

Dates:     Matches will be on the fourth Saturday of the month

Format & Classification:   All matches will 40-shot matches except May.  The May match will be a 60-SHOT MATCH.  Matches are Iron sight and/or Scope (min 3 entrants).  The NRA Black Powder Cartridge Rifle Silhouette classification system will govern. 

 

Rifles & Ammunition:  NRA rules will apply to all matches.  Any safe, original or modern production or custom variety, breech-loading rifle designed as a single shot prior to 1896 with an exposed hammer using metallic sights typical of the era or NRA approved telescopic sight.  Maximum weight is 12 lbs. 2 oz.  Common rifles include the Sharps 1874, 1875, and 1877 models, Remington Rolling Block and Hepburn models, Winchester and Browning models 1885, Ballard, Stevens and Springfield Trapdoor models etc.  Rifles must be chambered for cartridges of the American black powder era.  Ammunition must be loaded with 100% black powder or Pyrodex.  Bullets may be cast or swaged and must be composed entirely of lead or lead alloy, lubricated or paper patched without gas checks.

 

The 2009 Idaho State BPCRS Championships will be June 12, 13, & 14.  Programs will be mailed out by the end of February.
