OPEN TO: Any safe and enthusiastic small bore rifle shooter. Juniors age 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

 

WHEN: 100 Yard Matches: third Saturday of each month, 200 Yard Matches: second Saturday of each month (weather permitting). Sign up at 9:00. Please come early and help with range set up. Each match will be limited to 32 shooters (based on range limitations). First come first served!

 

WHERE: Black’s Creek Public Shooting range. Kuna-Mora Road south of Boise, Idaho. A map is available on the range web site www.blackscreekrange.com, or call one of the contacts listed below.

 

ENTRY FEES: Match fees for both matches are $5.00 plus a $5.00 range fee for non club members. Juniors are $2.00 and will not be charged a range fee.

 

CATEGORIES: Modern Rifle: Any safe .22 rimfire rifle. Sights may be metallic or scope. Vintage Rifle: Any safe single shot .22 rimfire rifle (or reproduction) designed prior to 1900. Sights may be metallic (open, receiver or tang) or scope. Scope must be appropriate for the period.

 

EQUIPMENT: Shooting mats and bench cross sticks will be provided. Each shooter is responsible for required hearing and eye protection, rifle and ammunition. Binoculars, spotting scopes, spotting boards and timers may be used to assist spotters. No shooting jackets or shooting gloves allowed. Dress appropriately. Winter matches can be cold and wet!

 

AMMUNITION: Any .22 rimfire short, long or long rifle ammo that does not damage targets is allowed. Hyper velocity ammo is not allowed.

 

TARGETS: Standard NRA steel smallbore rifle silhouette targets.

 

DISTANCES:

       100 Yd Matches: Chicks @ 40 yds, Pigs @ 50 yds, turks @ 75 yds, Rams @ 100 yds

       200 Yd Matches: Chicks @ 50 yds, Pigs @ 100 yds, Turks @ 150 yds, Rams @ 200

       Yds.

POSITIONS: Chickens are shot in the standing (off hand) position. Leaning against the shooting bench is not allowed. Juniors may shoot chickens from a supported position. All other animals are shot in the prone position using bench cross sticks for muzzle support. Shooters unable to shoot from the prone position may use a seated position with the match director’s prior permission.

 

COURSE OF FIRE: Each match will consist of 10 animals placed at the distances listed above. Match scores will be based on a maximum possible score of 40. A target must be knocked off of the rail to count as a hit. Shooters will be given ten minutes to fire at each bank of ten targets. Shooters may take as many sight in shots as desired at a swinger provided for that purpose on each bank of targets but must have record shots and sighters finished within the 10 minute time limit. Once a shooter begins shooting for record, the sight in target can no longer be engaged. The targets must be engaged from left to right. If a target is missed, the shooter must move to the next target. Targets hit out of sequence will be scored a miss.

 

AWARDS: Awards will be given based on classes determined by the shooters past record. Any new shooters will start in the master/ unclassified class. The classes based on a 40 shot match are:

NOTE:

      Matches are usually finished by 2pm. Bring a lunch and drinks if desired.
